What a great week and a half! It was one of the busiest ever it, but so many things were able to get done, and school is almost half over! The highlight this week was having my mom come in town! Wahoo! It was the best having her here! We were able to make progress on wedding colors, wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, reception food and desserts, register at Target/Bed Bath and Beyond, and have some fun adventures together.Sunday Dinner: Jake made some pasta and chicken. Tuna ate a ton of it. Jake does a great job making food.
Stacey and Neal went on a date and went to the corn mazes. They brought me back a souvenir. On Monday, after taking a few tests at the testing center, Jake went and picked up some treats for us to have Family Night together. We started reading out of a book about ideas to grow a closer relationship to Christ. We also tried vanilla/chocolate oreos. It was so surprising that the vanilla taste override the chocolate taste. I like the original double stuffed the best. This week before mom came there was a lot of school work to get done.
Jake and I had fun picking out outfits for us to wear for engagement pictures! We took them on Wednesday! We had the cutest photographer! Her website is "nicole carmen photography" I want to get our pictures back so bad! We will get them in two weeks! Right after Jake and I took pictures, we got to drive to Salt Lake to pick up mom! I was so excited for her to come into town! She stayed from Wednesday night till Sunday night! Wahoo! (thats a lot of explanation marks! thats how excited I was..)

The fun thing about holidays, is the fun food that is associated with it! My roommate Megan is in charge of ward prayer and she always picks out the funnest treats. I guess thats the cute school teacher in her!
While mom was here we got some good stuff done! When we went out to get some ideas of what to register for to try and get some color pallets for rooms, and see what was available. These yellow pillows were my favorite find!
Sadly, while mom was here, I still had one more test to take. I was so proud that this was my first test above 60% in years I had to take a picture of the monitor to remind myself that I can make it, school is almost over! I got a 90% I was so sad that the screen didn't say "awesome" or "way to go" on it. You had to get a 95%. Maybe next time :)
On Saturday, after looking at a couple of apartments for Jake and I to live in after we get married, we went to Costco. There was a neat pony there. We bought some cool hand puppets and food for Sunday dinner. Costco had some awesome Christmas toy sets.
When we were leaving Costco to come back home, we were passing campus just in time as the BYU football game foot traffic was on the loose.
This picture does not do justice the swarms of people. On Saturday, it was pouring rain all day. People watching the game in that shows true blue colors.
As we were stuck in traffic we observed the nice fall trees and smog about the mountains.
Sunday after church, mom made us all an awesome italian dinner! It was so fun to have all my roommates and cousins that live in the area for dinner. Sadly Cameron and Wesley were not able to come because they had church later in the day, but we got to play with them Saturday night for dinner and a Halloween Movie.
Here the start of the dinner group! More began to come after the picture was taken. I love having my mom in town! She is such a blast! After dinner we play a game of "five crowns." I think this was a first in a long long time that I won. I was shocked my score was 74, and under a 100.  I feel it all depends on the cards you get. I love the game! Then I mom and I went to the airport to take her home. I did not want her to leave. She is the best to have her around!
As I was walking to school I thought it was so beautiful out! The fall time is quite beautiful!
I also thought these clouds looked beautiful!
Fall leaves in the gutter. I want to scoop up a bunch of leaves and play in them.
Tuesday night Jake came and picked me up from school, and we went to Arbys to get some yummy jalepeono poppers. After I went back to the library to work on some homework. When I was leaving campus, I saw that it had snowed outside. Someone drew this smily face is the fresh powder.
When I got to my car, I was surprised with how much snow was on it. I thought that the snow would all be melted by morning.
I was shocked that in the morning there was more snow! By one in the afternoon, most all of the snow was melted away. Snowboarding here I come! Wahooo!
Wednesday night bowling! Sadly I didn't get to come bowl, but these are the pictures I got at the last tail end of the game! Cameron was awesome and came and bowled in my place. It was a Halloween bowling night, and the team did not disappoint! Jake even bowled a turkey! Way to go babe!
Cameron and Jacob looking good.
I missed bowling for a work meeting. I started working 3 hours a week at a cute salon called "Im Beautiful." They are so good to me there! I love my bosses! Next week they are having a boutique sale and I get to go join! I am so excited! Well at our work meeting we went over all our Bumble and Bumble products with our Bumble rep Rob. It was so much fun! They had dinner for us, and treats! Well, after I realized maybe I shouldn't be so anti- hair products. If you get the right products, they can really do a whole lot of good for you, and your hair. The surf spray and tonic are my favorite so far!
Thursday night, my ward had an activity for Halloween. This was my first activity I didn't participate in. I kind of missed it, but it was so nice to be able to go support someone else that worked so hard on this activity. The new activities committee did wonderful! It was so cutely decorated, had an awesome bake off, and chili and soup bowls with cute "Great Harvest" pumpkin bread bowls. Jake and I ate so much chili! It worked out perfect that we were eating pumpkin bowls, while Jake and I were pumpkins ourselves.....
On Friday I got to meet with my stats tutor and go over past tests, make cupcakes, go to the temple, do a few sets of eyelashes, and meet up with Jake at a super cute apartment! Oh, I hope the landlords pick Jake and I to live there! Jake and I have looked at a lot of places, and this is by far my absolute favorite one! We will find out tomorrow if we can live there! I sure hope that we get to live there! It was perfect location, perfect size, so clean and cute! Oh I loved it! Well see though...if not...well find another one! After looking at the apartment, Jake and I ate dinner together at In and Out Burger. Then we headed over to campus to go to some extra credit lectures for one of my religion classes. The event was called "39th Annual Sidney B. Sperry Symposium." Tomorrow is Halloween! We are doing a roommate extravaganza! I am excited!

October 10-17th!

This has been quite an eventful week. I started meeting with a Statistics tutor, that I wish I would of done at the begginging of the year....I also have been prearing for 3 midterms. Its crazy to think the semester is half way done! Wahoo!!!! Jake helped me transfer some credits from fashion school, and I got an email from BYU evaluating the classes I took, and gave me the credits for them! Wahoo! That means, after this semester, I have 4 credits total left! (If I finish my online Nutrition class....I would only have 1 credit left). I need to start working on that. Time to step it up. Jake and I take engagement pictures this week, so we have been working on putting together some outfits. That has been fun. Jake was so sweet and bought me the cutest outfit that I wanted to wear for the pictures! I am so excited to wear it! My mom comes into town next week, and I have been so excited to see her and be able to spend time with her! Jake's mom bought a plane ticket to come down to the bridal shower! I am sooooo excited she is coming! I know everyone will be so happy to meet her! (especially my sisters!) Jake has been looking for housing for us to live in for the winter. There has been a few places he has liked, so we are working on meeting the landlords. I feel I have had so many tender mercies in my life lately. I feel the Lord is always blessing my life, but extra extra these past few weeks.  This week, Jake and I were able to have a bit of fun together to!
Cute picture huh? I never knew Jake was so good at puppet shows! He was so adorable.

Jake did a puppet show with the beanie babies, and Tuna was the host. I was laughing so hard.
I thought this was the cutest thing ever, I couldn't stop taking pictures of how cute I thought Jake was.
With so many exciting things going on, it was time for a beard and hair trim! I got to help Jake trim his beard, and hair. After we trimmed his beard, I was surprised with how much hair came off his face. We cut his hair in the garage so it would be an easy clean up.
What a nice looking trimmed beard!

Well, Halloween is nearing. Jake and I's Halloween costumes came in the mail. Tuna was super sad because he thought that he didn't have a Halloween costume to wear, so I had to spill the beans and show him his bunny costume. I have never seen him so excited! He was jumping up and down so high! He put on the bunny outfit, and jumped even higher! He loves his outfit so much, he wont take it off. Ive tried many times for him to take off the bunny costume but he said he wont take it off till after Halloween is over.
Tuna was so excited about his costume he crawled up stairs to Stacey's room to show her his new attire. Stacey is such a supportive friend to Tuna, I think she was just as excited as he was to get the outfit.
Saturday was a great day! I got to study from 7am to 1pm, while Jake and his brothers worked hard on doing some awesome landscaping for Nathans yard. I didn't get to see the final project in person, but from the pictures, the yard looked wonderful! Nathan and Joanna made a herb garden! That's so awesome! Someday I would like to do something like that. Nathan works at the Lion House in Salt Lake as a chef, so we got to go eat with him there! That was fun! I drove up to Salt Lake after studying to go meet up with the boys. The food was great! We all got pot roast, or pulled pork sandwiches. I really enjoyed the whole meal, but my favorites were the steamed vegetables, and cornbread. After lunch, Nathan headed to work, and Cameron and Wesley went to go visit some friends and get back home. Jake and I stayed in Salt Lake for a little bit and had some fun!

We walked around Temple Square, the church grounds, and went to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. There we went and saw the Joseph Smith Restoration movie. I am not sure what the name of the actual movie is, but it was one intense movie. It was super good too. I cried the entire time. It was nice that I have had a cold, because I have been carrying a box of Kleenex in my purse, and it came in handy. I have always known starting the church was quite a hard task, and there were many percussion's for the saints, but to see some of them portrayed made a new perspective for me on this subject. It really started making me think what I would of thought, if I started hearing rumors about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and words of a modern prophet receiving revelation? If I would move multiple times to be with the Saints? and if I would be a follower? I would sure hope I would be! I think living back in that time period would be incredibly hard. Having not much medical knowledge or tools to find cures, loved ones dying often, so much manual labor; I think hearing of the hope the gospel brings, and the knowledge of a living, and loving God would be the perfect message to be shared. I feel it still is today. I am so grateful for the gospel, and all the people that followed Gods will, and worked so hard to restore the gospel.
On our way home from Salt Lake. I got to talk to my mom and her and my sister Aubrey were having a fun time in Sadona, Arizona. They went on a 3 our desert jeep ride! That's cool!
I was so excited that Jake and I got to go grocery shopping! Food was running low....and it was time to get some basics! Tuna saw a miniature pumpkin, and he wanted to hold it.
Tuna made some other friends along the way. They ended up coming home with us. Tuna, Mr. Pumpkin, Patunia the pink bear, Jake and I ended the night with some yummy Golden Spoon, and some episodes of "The Community." It has been amazing having a Golden Spoon by us in Utah! I have grown up going to Golden Spoon and have missed it much living away from it. I am so happy the joy of the spoon is spreading. My roommate Sandy also has an addiction to Golden Spoon, and we happened to see her and her boyfriend Alan there! A great run in! Jake and I got chocolate mint and graham cracker yogurt with caramel cups and heath bar for toppings!
After church, there is always a gathering in the kitchen. Stacey bought stuff to make smores, so her, Sandy and I made some in the oven. They were delicious! Thanks Staceypants!

Smores are hard to eat without being messy. It is worth it! For dinner, Jake and I are making some yummy pasta. Jake is great at cooking. Then we are going to ward prayer, (my roommate Megan is over ward prayer and does a great job with it) and then seeing where the eventing takes us. It has been a great week! I am excited to get some tests done this week, play with Jake, look at the turtles and spend time with my mom!

Come What May, and LOVE It

What an absolutely fantastic week it has been! I have never felt so busy in my life, but It has never been better. Today at church was great. We had Ward Conference with the Stake. I was enjoining myself so much I took a few notes. I felt the overall theme was, endure and be happy! Here are a few notes of some points that were made that I really enjoyed and wanted to think more about:

-Righteous living brings true eternal happiness
-show gratitude (attitude of gratitude)
-forgive others, and yourself
-Don't let opportunities pass us by to not say thank you to others. Take the time to write thank you cards and express gratitude. (this is one I really wanted to focus more of my efforts on)
-having a bad day? write down 3 things you are grateful for that day
-the only way to real happiness is to live the gospel
-study diligently, pray vividly, serve others
-develop meekness
-learn to draw nearer to the Lord
-be carefully about being distracted
-stand in the light of our faith
-live our covenants and claim the blessings
-don't forget who we are, and where we came from
-take one day at a time
-come what may, and love it -Elder Wirthlin

There were many fantastic things said. These were a few of the highlights for me from Sacrament meeting and Relief Society. In Sunday school we learned about Isaiah, and started diving into the first few chapters. We learned that you can find refuge and peace in your homes, in the church, and the temple. Listening to all the talks and the messages shared today, it made me really grateful I got to talk in church a few weeks ago. My sister Hayley wrote an awesome talk on Endurance when she spoke in her ward in Ohio on Pioneer Day. My dad sent me a copy of Hayley's talk. I knew I was assigned to speak in church on Sept 26th for about a month. Reading Hayley's talk, I felt like I should talk about endurance as well. The thing that's interesting to me as I think about all this is, we never know whats coming in life, but I think its like what was talked about in my ward today, that we need to be positive, stay focused, and live the gospel, because that is what is going to bring true happiness. I have had so many amazing examples of people that do this every day. I feel we are so lucky to be living in the time period we are, and there are so many exciting times ahead of us.

Hayley, I told you I would get you a copy of my talk, so until then, here it is till I send you one! Thanks for all your help! Your talk, blessed my life.I love you!

9/26/10

Have you ever met someone, and when you met them, you wanted to be just like them because there was something so vibrant and amazing that stuck out about this person? Well, this is how I felt about a man named EMA. I got the blessing of being able to meet Ema, while I was at his house for dinner in France. Ema used to live in Africa, and was scouted out to play soccer for a French team. He was a large man in stature, and looked like a large American football player. Ema had been in a car accident about 9 years ago, that changed his entire life. Ema is now in a wheel chair, and has part of a crippled arm. When the family I was with arrived to Emas, I felt the largest welcome into his home. This man by himself, cooked us a huge, multi-course dinner, and shared the sweetest stories with us. I do not speak French, but just hearing Emas voice made me so happy. From someone translating Emas French into English, I was able to learn about him. I learned of his conversion story to the gospel, how he got in a car accident and became crippled, and how he owned his own fish market and it got burned down. Ema had many life changing stories. Hearing these drastic events to me was devastating, and to see this man talk about them with the hugest smile on his face was so touching. During dinner I felt the strongest spirit from Ema, and he was just beaming. I thought, how could he be so happy, and so positive about life, when many crazy things had happened to him?

After leaving Emas house, I couldn't stop thinking about what a huge impact this short hour experience had made in my life. To me, Ema is the absolute perfect example, of what I would like to speak to you all about today.

In James 5:11, it reads, "Behold, we count them happy which endure." Even despite the many trials Ema was going threw, he truly was the happiest man I have ever met. So, how is it even possible to be HAPPY and ENDURE all at the same time, and what does "endure" even mean?

President Uchdorf said in the November 2007, "Enduring to the end, or remaining faithful to the laws and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout our life, is a fundamental requirement for salvation in the kingdom of God. This belief distinguishes Latter-day Saints from many other Christian denominations that teach that salvation is given to all who simply believe and confess that Jesus is the Christ. The Lord clearly declared, “If you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God”

We hear the word endure or endurance used quite often in the church. That's because the scriptures tell us that it is essential for us to endure to the end. Elder Robert D. Hales said, "We were not sent by Heavenly Father just to be born. We were sent to endure and return to Him with Honor."

I like the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 136:31 when the Lord tells us, "My people must be tried in all things, that they may be prepared to receive the glory that I have for them, even the glory of Zion."

I feel in these collage years we all have many things going on in our lives. We have many important decisions to make. Many choices that will determine where our life goes. I think this scripture is so neat because it is a promise from our Heavenly Father that that if we endure, we will be able to have eternal life, live with our Heavenly Father, and receive the glory he has for us! This is so amazing!

Reading this scripture makes me feel that, if it means enduring through afflictions, opposition, problems, trials, or whatever it is...no matter what..enduring to the end will be WORTH IT!

My talk isn't to depress us though about exciting hardships we can have in life, but its purpose is to bring the GOOD NEWS. Like Ema, in our trials, how can we be happy, and positive?

The answer is CHRIST! The good news is Christ! How wonderful is it that there is someone who knows exactly how we feel. Someone we can pray to. Someone who truly is our best friend, and someone that cares for us so much. Someone who wants to talk to us. We do not have to go through a single trial by ourselves. Christ is here for us, and is wanting to help us. I learned from Ema that his best friend was Christ. Because of this, it made Ema, the happiest, richest man alive.

A powerful example in the Book of Mormon is in Mosiah Chapter 24. This is when Alma and his people were in bondage of the Laminates. Verse 10 reads, "And it came to pass that so great were their afflictions that they began to cry mightily to God."

The part of this example that stood out to me was when I read it was in verse 14 when the Lord answers their prayers, but maybe not the way they were expecting...and the Lord says, "And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders that even you cannot feel them upon your backs. And now it came to pass that their burdens were made light; yea the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord."

Having Christ in your life is true Joy. Christ is happiness. I truly feel that if we have Christ in our lives, we find true happiness in life.

Elder Marion D. Hanks , assistant to the council of the 12 gave a story in the ensign, "When I was a boy growing up in a home with a widowed mother, I heard a story that touched me and that has had a lot more meaning since I have had the blessing of having a son of my own. A youngster was assigned by his father to see to the moving of a large rock. He tugged and pushed, and he lifted and struggled without avail. Some friends were enlisted, but together they could not move it. Reluctantly he reported to his father that he could not budge the rock.
“Have you done all you could?” asked the father.
“Yes,” said the little boy.
“Have you tried everything?” persisted the father.
“Yes,” said the boy. “I’ve tried everything.”
“No, son, you haven’t,” said his dad. “You haven’t asked me.”

Why do so many of us, “heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ,” fail to go to him, to keep in touch with our Father? He is anxious to help. But he wants us to learn our need for him, to open the door to him."

I have found the best way for me in my life, to turn to Christ, and learn to ask Him for his help, is to do what Charles Didier of the Seventy said ,"One of the real purposes of life is to become a friend of the Mediator, our Savior and Redeemer, and not only understand his mission but also support it and then qualify to be called his friend, his disciple, and to enter into the presence of his Father."

"One of my all time favorite scriptures is found in Doctrine and covenants 84:77, "And again I say unto you, my friends, for from henceforth I shall call you my friends, it is expedient that I give unto you this commandment that ye become even as my friends in days when I was with them, traveling to preach the gospel in my power."

That scripture is so good! I love that it says it is a commandment to be friends with Christ. I think that is so special and so neat.Christ loves us so much that he wants to be our friend.

Marion D. Hanks beautifully said, "Men without God and the living Christ in their lives lack center, and thus lack joy they could have.

That leads me to the scripture I would like to close with Helaman 5:12 "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son on God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

I challenge us all, especially myself to truly build a foundation upon Christ, and to build a strong, loving relationship with him.

The answer is ALWAYS Christ.I know that if we do build a strong relationship with Christ, and make him our best friend that not only will we be able to endure all things, that we will be able to endure them with a positive attitude and joy in our hearts. Christ is happiness, and threw Him, I know that we will each be able to make it back home to the Celestial Kingdom to live with Him and our Heavenly Father.

I would like to bear my testimony.....In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen! :)

COZY SPIDERS

"Team COZY SPIDERS originated in 2010, at the lanes of the BYU Bowling League. They consist of four players. Captain Kelsey-hobo spider, and teammates Jacob-wolf spider, Stacey-spider vein, Neal-pancake. They are dedicated players who love to bowl for the fun of the sport, and not so much the game. With their team mascot Tuna the Monkey, it is destiny for them to win the bowling league tournament."

Last year Stacey and I participated in a bowling league. Here we had a lot of fun times, and great memories. (Anders-flame pants and euro dance moves, special guest appearances...and other great events) Sadly, we did not even think of doing bowling league this year because it completely spaced our minds. When this fall semester of school began, I got an email from the head of the Bowling League, asking if we would like to come back and bowl as a special request from him. He told us, our team spirit, and charisma were what they needed to liven this league up. Also, he said we could get our first game for free! I emailed him back and told him it would do us great honor to be back on the league. I told him to expect us holding the 1st place trophy at the end of the season. So, that's how the Cozy Spiders began.  We have bowling league every week. There we play against an opposing team 3 games. Winner takes all. This year, I think some of our winning moves will be done by dancing to distract opponents, bowling at the exact same time as them, and rapping to scare the opponents bowling balls into the gutters.
This is Neal. (Stacey's boyfriend) aka PANCAKE. At first the season started off a little ruff for him. Then he discovered the magical powers of Tuna. Neal started bowling multiple rounds with Tuna in his pocket. It has never failed that when Tuna was in his pocket, that Neal would bowl a strike.
This is Tuna  in Neals pocket. Tuna said he enjoys being part of the bowling league. He said this is a night he looks forward to. He enjoys being in the players pockets, sitting on bowling balls, and eating a bag of skittles while watching a game.
 Game 1 results
Neal has a jumbo kindle. This is where Tuna began his interest in it.
Neal taught Tuna how to read.
Seeing the name pancake on the screen makes me laugh, and have happy feelings inside.
This is cute Jacob (WOLF SPIDER). He is waiting his turn to bowl. Jake has really improved his skills since our first game. He has been able to pull out some good scores and break a hundred almost every game! Way to go Jake! (last season, I think the score 100 was broken only 2 times...)
pancake and spidervein unite! They are patiently waiting for the games results to appear on the screen!
This was my best game all season~ I got a turkey! (3 strikes!)
Not only do we bowl at bowling league, we have all kinds of other fun to. Eating pizza, dance parties, finishing homework, and competitions. Stacey joined a push up competition and won! YYYYEAAAAHHH spider vein! She won two free games of bowling!
Jacob is about to drop the ball to get this last pin down. He succeeded.
Every week there is a league news letter. Here we learn of the opposing team, and the predictions of who is going to win what game. (we have not yet been choose to win a game...)

These are Staceys free games she won! Go Staceypants!
a happy family
Last game of the day. It was a good night of bowling. Until next week...
