Snow is on its way!

Friday, January 20, 2012

Look at this email from Park City! Thursday the mountain received 6 inches of snow! And I got to go enjoy it with Stacey and Alex! And it says...more snow to come! Wahoo! It is so interesting that winter really has not come yet. It seems to be like this not in just Utah. So, I was excited about some fresh new snow and hope more comes! If its supposed to be cold here, why not have some fresh white powder to go with it!
Up at the mountain! A nice overcast day! It stated to snow on us while we were there and we were all sooooo excited! It was a perfect snow because it was not a wet snow. It would fall and hit the ground and stick! It made it a great day for snowboarding! I had so much fun! Sometimes (all the time) when I am snowboarding I sing rap songs out loud and it really enhances my experience.
Leaving! It was a wonderful day! You can kinda see in this picture that it was snowing a little bit! Wahoo! Maybe winter is on its way!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Yesterday I started reading this book and finished it this morning! My friend Alisa was so cute and sent it to me. Her like I, enjoy reading teenage fiction, and she found this book and loved it. She knows I like to read, so she got me one and sent it to me! I was so excited to have a new fun book to read! I was totally surprised when I read it how much I really did like it! It was fun to read a book all composed of letters! The main charter in the book Juliet is a riot! I was laughing out loud so much about the funny things she would say! So witty! I wish sometimes I was as bold and witty as she was! I think it skill that could come in handy quite often.

I was surprised how much history was in the book about the World War when the Germans were trying to occupy London. Because of that, Germans were living in the channel islands in Guernsey where this book takes most of its story on. Juliet is a writer who got famous during the war for her funny comments and lighartedness during the war time to cheer people up. After the war, she was to write a few columns for the Times and a new book. Juliet wasn't sure what she would write about until she developed a new pen pal in Guernsey.

Juliet gets to know everyone in the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and falls in love with them. She even takes a trip to visit them. I think thats when the story gets amazing! I really loved this book. It is one I will for sure read again. There are so many characters, you want to get to know them better and find out more about them. I really liked how you got to know everyone through letters. It made it so you could know each persons personality and quirks about them.

This book motivates me to write letters and keep a journal. It was so fun to learn about people and hear incredible stories (real or not?!...I still loved it) so I should keep a history to! Going to work on that.......

Thanks Alisa! LOVED IT! You are the BEST :)

random things from the week

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

I feel like I have not blogged in forever. Life has been super busy lately(with good things) full of making online stores, cooking, baby showers, tv watching, sewing, reading, legos, church stuff....
Stacey and I got to go snowboarding! It was great! We had such a fun day together! We had a fun drive up the canyon, played on the snow for an hour, and came back and went to Riverwoods and ate at Milowie Pizza and then did a little shopping! It was a great day!
I have been cracking up cause Jake and I have been staying up pretty late, lately and sometimes he falls asleep randomly, so I think its funny to put things on his face to see if he wakes up. (Yes I know not nice of me). Usually it does not even phase him and he sleeps throw the night with Tuna and Lamp Chop on his face.
Jake and I made a new creation and it my new favorite! Bacon chocolate chip waffles! I know it sounds weird, but it is delicious!
One night we had dinner at Honey Baked Ham and got the most delicious sandwiches. This is the turkey bacon, and Jake got the Tavern. They were both so good! I had no idea about the amazing deli inside Honey Baked Ham stores. If you have never been, GO!
Jake drew some pictures for some nephews :) We have been watching alot of Phienas and Ferb lately. It is the greatest show. We have almost watched all of the episodes. They are so fun and creative. Just watching them inspires you to do great things! Like make grilled cheese sandwiches...and other good things to.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean 3DS and PS3 Games

Pirates for the 3DS is the best game ever!

When Jake and I first got our Nintendo 3DS, Pirates was the first game I got! I LOVED it so much I beat it 3 times in a week. You couldn't get me off my 3DS. I would play it every night for a few hours for months. That is bad, but it lets you know it is a fun, good game! Like all LEGO games, you first have to play through the whole game before you can start unlocking charters to help you get all the secrets. For some reason, I love finding all the secrets.  I will play a game over and over until I find all of them. One suggestion I would have is collect all the coins you can every time you are playing. That way you can purchase more people sooner to help you get a higher percentage to finish the game. I was super impressed with the awesome graphics for a little hand held device. This game is kid friendly and super fun! Sometimes LEGO games are hard to figure out, but if you cant figure out what to do, go on line and look up the level you are on and watch a video run through.

As for the PS3 Pirates video game, that one is alot harder than the 3DS game! (my nephew who is 10 does a great job with it) You have more tasks you have to do, and more intense ways of finding things. But for some reason these games are a blast. They are so cute because they take you through the movies, so you feel like you are playing a fun game and watching all the Pirates movie in LEGO form. It is way cute! The PSP I think would be really difficult for a younger child to play and figure things out, but then again, kids are smarter than I am on these kinds of things :)

My only complaint on these LEGO games is that you have to finish an entire level before you can quit and save. I guess that is like a normal video game, but these levels are long. But if you dont try and find all the secrets, the levels would go by quick.

LEGO- Harry Potter Years 5-7 Nintendo 3DS Game

This game is awesome! I think since it is a newer LEGO game it is easier to follow along and find out what to do. It also could be to, most LEGO games are similar and if you play one, you can figure out the rest. This game follows the movies really well. Its fun because instead of switching charters a lot, you are usually switching what spell you are using to unlock something and go to the next step. The charters are super funny to watch and fun!

Like all LEGO games, I highly recommend getting all the coins you can all the time so when you finish the game and unlock things you can purchase them with the coins you collected.

I did have a few problems with this game glitching up on my and freezing which I dont think is normall and I have never had happen in any other LEGO game, so I dont know what went on those few times it happened...

With this game being years 5-7 for Harry Potter, it is a bit more dark. Since the game follows the movies, this game is a little darker. Meaning I would be kind of scared to play this game by my self in the late hours of the night. I am also a wimp though.

This game says for ages 7 and up but I always wonder about that. I feel sometimes I have a hard tiem figuring things out, but when I call my 8 year old nephew for how to do something and he tells me how to do it, I guess the age 7 is appropriate for this game ;)

On finding the secrets, in this game you really have to destroy everything and try everything to get all the secrets. I had to play a few games many, many, many times to try and find some hats and tokens I was missing. Worth it though. Its always fun to collect all the extra items!

LEGO: Toys Store 3 - Pizza Planet Delivery Truck (7598)

This was my hardest LEGO set to make yet. Maybe because it was only my 3rd I have ever done....but this car was intense! It even has shocks. You can bounce the car. Pretty cool. I think the neat thing about this set though, is it is LEGOS you can actually play a lot with. You can roll the car around and take it for rides, rather than other LEGOS that are structures. You can still play with them, but a car is awesome!
The little alien is my favorite.
You can pop open the hood and refill the middle with little plastic pizzas. You can shoot them out and fight off people that are trying to fight you. Pizzas to their faces.
The top hatch of the truck opens so someone can shoot the enemy.

LEGO- Winter Bakery (10216)

This box set I feel has been the most bang for your buck! for $60.00 it has 687 pieces, 7 1/2 people and a horse! (the 1/2 person is stuck in the snow in the ice skating rink) And most of all, it is so dang cute! Who wouldn't want a Christmas Bakery? :) Jake got this LEGO set for me for Christmas and I finally just got around to making it!
My favorite part of making LEGOS is getting out all the people and putting them together.
Getting started. I got all the LEGO pieces out in piles, got out the manual and started. This set took me a bit of time to make but I got to watch some good old movies while putting it together. (Ace Venture Pet Detective, and Vegas Vacation)
 All Done!

I loved the ice skating shoes they had for all the skaters.
Isnt that light so cool? It came with a light brick that turns the bakery light on.
