Quilting Adventures!

Here is my sweet mother helping me get this quilt ready to tye. I am so lucky to have a mom that knows how to do all this stuff!

As soon as my mother left...disater hit! Not really, but the whole set up fell down, ran out of fabric, ran out of yarn, it was a fun adventure.

Here is the first quilt started at the begginging of the week finished! Yeah!

Here is quilt #2 finished! Yes! I was so glad I got a little taste of quilting this week! I would have to say that, the finished product and snuggling with it is a little bit funner than cutting out all the peices to make the quilt...

Here is the whole finished quilt! I am excited to someday make a real quilt! There is already one I have in mind! Time to get started!

Arizonas Finest

Arizona is the best for so many reasons. Here are a few of my favorite reasons why!

Children

If this picture does not get you excited to have children....I don't know what will! Ha ha so my cute niece alyssa and nephew shane, woke up early one morning and found a hidden box of sharpies and happened to have a party of color with them. Fortuantley the smered poop...was able to be cleaned, the sharpies on the sink counters were able to come off, a new wall paint job, new shower curtain and toilet seat did the trick! This is the old toilet seat and I thought it should become a framed treasure. Yes things like this help me be excited and want children right away.....ha ha no but I do love kids, they are so cute and messy!

Patchwork Progress

Working on this quilt tonight was so much fun! I got all the front pieces sewn for the easy front, and got the rest of the pieces ready for the "school shirt" quilt. I am excited tomorrow is sunday, but also bummed my mom and I didn't make it to the fabric store so we could get fabric to finish the travel quilt, and start the school one. Its ok though, I will read or make cookies after church. Its bad though, I am falling into my bad habits of being addicted to something till I finish it. I am excited its fast sunday. I enjoy those. Tonight, we heard fireworks going on, so mom and I went outside and stood on top of the playground and watched the fireworks. HAPPY FORTH OF JULY.

Bucket list #1

Latley I have been thinking a lot about "the future." Things like...what I would like to be doing in 20 years...things I would like to accomplish....where I would like to be.....things I would like to do...and so on. So with lots of great examples in my life to follow, I picked some qualities I would like to be and some random things I would like to do, some spiritual things...and of course.....way to many parties things. This began the start of my bucket list. I have about 20 things right now on my bucket list, and one of them is...make a quilt. So super cheesey....but I saved all my old shirts from highschool and trips, and am going to make a quilt out all the shirts. Well, it eneded up being a lot of shirts, so I get to make 2 cozy quilts! One is going to be a super simple, all the t shirts sewn together which will be efy, concert shirts, and travel, and the other quilt is all school shirts from sports, orchestra, and student council stuff. All the pieces are 15 by 15 inches and will have small fabric strips sewn in between them. I don't think these quilts will count for my full bucket list quilt though, because there is one I saw at a store about a year ago, with my mom and I want to make that for a someday future bedspread, because its a cute huge patchwork with massive pop out flowers. So fun! I think after that...the goal of having more patience then doing a "just a one day" sewing project and making a quilt will be accomplished! Well here is the start of my bucket list, ill post some pictures if the quilts get any further.............

GRANDPARENTS

wow it has been way to long since I have even looked at a computer, besides catching up on the Bacholorette episodes. Carpal Tunnel is starting to hit, so I have been taking a break for any repitious hand movements (except for eyelash fun that is!) Life has been so wonderful! I have had alot of really great spirtual experiences lately, and have been able to spend some great time with some very special people in my life.

A couple of weeks ago, I got to be a councler at a girls, efy type of camp called, "Time to Blossom." It was a great time! I got to hear amazing speakers, eat great food, make fun crafts, and be incharge of 13, 11 year old girls, who were, and became a great example and influence to me.

This week I got to spend with my grandparents for their 70th wedding anniversry. I would love to be like my grandparents. I feel they are exemplary examples in, 1. Loving the Savior, 2. Showing and express love to spouse, and other important people in thier lives, 3. importance of eating right, health and fitness, 4. education, and for number 5. gospel examples.

1. Loving the Savior- every conversation ends up with grandma or grandpa, expressing thier love to the Savior and what a blessing He is in their life.

2. Showing and expressing love to spouse, and other important people in thier life- my grandparents often email me and tell me how much they love me and why. (They are 91 years old, that is pretty incredible). Grandpa, always opens the car door for grandma, and helps her get around everywhere. At their favortie "Golden Coral" grandpa will put his plate of food down, and hurry over to grandma so he can grab her plate and help her finish walking over to sit down to eat. Grandma and grandpa always hold hands together, sit by eachother, hug and kiss everytime someone gets up and express love verbally to eachother. I know some may think this is to much, but seeing this has been the sweetest experience for me, and has helped me look forward to work towards this in my life.

3. Eating right. Grandparents do some form of excersize everyday. I dont think they could be 91, walking around, being active if they didnt. They eat lots of fruit and veggies, and dont eat past 6pm. Good goals to work towards.

4. Jake sat with grandpa at the computer, working on figuring out a few things together. He is always wanting to learn more, and be better at computers. Grandma and grandpa also play a game everyday during scripture study. They will pick out words in the scriptures, and have to spell out loud to eachother the word, and say a definition. Then they look up the definition and study the word, and quiz eachother throught the day the word. They are always finding great ways to jog thier memory.

I have loved being able to spend time with my sweet grandparents. They have been such wonderful examples to me throughout my life.

Time to Blossom

This summer I got the opportunity to be a counselor at a girls camp for ages 11-16 year olds. The camp is called "Time to Blossom." I had a great time! I had an awesome group of 10 11 year olds and 3 14 year olds! So I had the largest group at 13 girls! We got to stay at the Hilton hotel in Mesa and have great meals everyday. For some of our meals we got to go to the Fiesta Mall next door and get food. One day our group all ordered pizza together. I loved the girls I was able to have. We had fun devotionals, great chats, and no sleep for the whole week. I got to room with 4 of the girls, so played late, or allllll night. Each day we had crafts, speakers and activities. There were a lot of great speakers that came and talked about walking tall, having confidence, posture, gospel lessons, self image, how to build friendships, and much more. Lots of great information for any age. John Bytheway, Vivian Cline were two of the big speakers they had come. They even had an olympian medalist swimmer come, and more.

One day we got to work on a service project. We got to make baby dolls for children in Africa. I loved hand sewing so it was a great time. I think it may have been a bit hard for people that have never sewn before, and confusing, but the girls pulled threw and did a great job!

This is one of the cute baby dolls made. I thought they were so cute! I want to make one when I am at home to keep to!

I got some pictures off the time to blossom website, so they came out blurry, but you can catch the jist of the picture from them. This was a picture of some of the girls with the little baby dolls behind them.

One night it was a dress up/formal night. I was grateful for my hair school and makeup days to help all the girl get ready for the night. It was fun!

Oh look at my cute girls!! This night was the night of the runway, and each girl got to go on stage and be presented.

This is Shanie and Mallory, two other counselors I knew from high-school. It was fun getting to see some of the counselors because a lot of them were friends from high-school that I had'nt seen since back in the day.

The whole elevator situation was fun. Since there were so many girls going up and down in the elevators, it was about a 15 minute wait every time you needed to go back to your room.

Mallory and I went for a piggyback ride in the hotel.

Another night there was an official fashion show. The company "down east outfitters" provided clothing from their new summer line for 20 girls. Anyone else that wanted to participate in the fashion show could. More than half the girls participated.
Every night we got to enjoy some fresh popcorn. This night we had a comedy show from he company called "Jesters." It was fun.
Yes rooming with girls creates many adventures. This is Brittlely and Brittany. The girls found some red lipstick and had a party with it. These are the kind of fun things sleepy girls do at 3 in the morning.
Muffins, fruit, scrambled eggs, french toast sticks! Yumm. I looked forward to breakfast every morning.
Every night we had yummy dinners in the ballroom. This was fun because then all our girls could sit and eat together.

Living with younger girls is really messy. I sure hope I wasn't this messy when I was a child. This was after I literally spent an hour and a half cleaning up trash and the girls junk.

I feel I had the best group ever! I was so lucky to have such wonderful girls!

Last day saying goodbyes! Yes I did cry..

On the last day the girls did a final dance for the parents when they came to pick the girls up! It was a great, long week.
