DINOSAUR Utah!

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Today has been a great day! I got to go with my cute mother in law on a date to Vernal Utah. We started early in the morning and drove a few hours to Vernal. We started our adventure at the Vernal Utah Temple! I totally forgot my wallet and temple recommend, but the workers were so sweet and helped me out! This temple is so cool! The temple used to be a Stake Tabernacle and they remolded the inside. So cool! Its neat because it is all wood inside and a cozy homey feeling.
After we went to the temple we ate at the always delicious Taco Bell! Then we got some yummy treats from the gas station, and headed up to......
DINOSAUR NATIONAL MONUMENT!  I was so excited to come check this place out!
 Tuney on a stegosaurus.
Isn't this so cool??! It is a HUGE area full of tons and tons of dino fossils! So cool! A river used to flow through this area back in the day and when dinos died or drowned they got washed up in this river, so there are different parts of dinos all over from the water flow. I guess there used to be 50 more feet of fossils found above the top of this huge quarry and all those fossils have been removed and are in museums or research stuff.
We met a fun Ranger (a man with a cool long gray braid in his hair) and he told us lots of cool facts about dinos. Here is mom and I in front of an Allosauras. The T-rex of his day.
Tuna sitting on a fossil. Guess what? It is a real fossil! They let you touch them! Neat huh?
Allosaurus face! I had so much fun checking out these fossils! I would like to go back again! After checking out the quarry we went to the new visitors center they built! Mom got Jake a cool dino book because Jake LOVES dinosaurs! After a fun time, mom and I headed back home. This was a great day!

I love good news!

Monday I went on the best bike ride ever! It was so beautiful and great weather out! They only problem was, it was a bit to chilly for my throat and it was building up some nasty mucuss in it. So, thats how you know winter is defiantly coming. I was so glad I was able to take a ride in the canyon because I got to experience a little bit of fall! I felt like I was back east taking a lovely stroll down the cute old fashioned streets.
I saw lots of leaves falling and some beautiful colored trees! It was wonderful! It made me sad to though in a way, realizing I don't know if there will be any more sunny days out to ride my bike outside. Then I went to Walmart and got a ton of groceries! After talking to Scarlett she inspired me to start making food again. So I got a bunch of food to make breakfast, lunch and dinner!
When I came home I saw mushrooms growing the grass! I got so excited! As a child I would always try and find mushrooms in the grass and pet them. They have such a cool texture.
For dinner tonight we had tacos! I think this is one of the easiest/quickest meals to make, and it tastes so good! For dessert we had carmel turtle brownies! I love brownies! Then we watched some Americas Next Top Model season 9. After we watch episodes we always feel like it was  a waste of time, but for some reason it is so much fun!
Oh yeah, and Jake thought he was a candy corn vampire.

Tuesday I got to talk to an out roommate named Sarah Kirton! I was so excited to talk to her and here some great news from her (she has a boyfriend)! Then I got to go to lunch with another old roommate, Hayley Madsen! It was fantastic seeing her! We went to Guru's and enjoyed an awesome lunch! We sat outside because it was great weather out! After an hour and a half, we got rained out. Its ok though, we had a good time and enjoyed catching up! She is wonderful! Then I went to Target to finish up some last minute Halloween party details! Ah I am getting so excited for Halloween! Then I came home and started working on some decorations for Heathers Bridal shower. The decorations were starting to look a bit ghetto and I was bummed, but once I got everything done, and them all together they look so much better! Thank goodness!

So for the fantastic news.....Jakes work got everyone gym membership passes! This is the best news ever! I was so bummed about not being able to ride my bike with winter rolling in, but now I can go to the gym! It also has a pool so we can train for a triathlon! I am soooo excited! I have never been excited to exercise or have a gym membership pass, but seeing winter is rolling it, it will great to be able to have some activities to do! Now that we have gym memberships, hopefully our TV time will decline!

We also got a late wedding gift in the mail today! I was so excited! I went to get a thank you card out and found 5 cards written and addressed and not sent from when I wrote thank you cards for our wedding back months ago! I am so sorry if you are one of those five people! You will be getting your wedding thank you in the mail this week! I feel SOOO bad! Wow. That is horrible! So sorry.
When Jake got home from work we went on a bike ride! It was awesome! I am counting down the days of our bike riding adventures... After we went and got our favorite...Rubios fish tacos! Yummy!

Wednesday when Jake got home from work, we went to the gym! I thought it was so cute that he is 31 and this is literally his first time to a gym! I was dying! I had no idea! Jake has always been active, but I guess with more out door type of things! So I think this will be fun for both of us to go to the gym together. When we went to the gym we had fun getting a tour of it and seeing all the fun things we could soon take part in! To celebrate our first gym victory, we went to In and Out Burger and ate yummy double double burgers and came home and watched Americas Next Top Model Allstar season! On the show they modeled Michael Jackson clothes. It was awesome!
Today I finished my book I have been reading! I think Kindgom Keepers 3 was the best so far in the series! I want to order the next one and read it asap! But I am excited to start reading my new book from Rick Riordian. All time favorite author!
I think Tuna is looking especially cute today. I had to take a picture of him!

Calvin's Baby Blessing

Sunday, October 9, 2011

This has been a great weekend! Saturday Jake and I got to sleep in! When I woke up, all I wanted to do is sew! So..thats what I did! Jake even made me a delicious breakfast. I got to finish up some small bags I had been working on. Then one of my all time best friends Scarlett came over! She was in town for the weekend and she came over to say hello! We had so much fun talking for hours! It was so wonderful to see her! I LOVE Scarlett. It was great to catch up! For dinner Jake and I went to Jdawgs and got delicious hot dogs, and topped off our meal with Arbys jalepeno poppers! Then we watched some tv shows and went to bed.

I have really been enjoying the rain for the past couple of days! There is something about rainy days I really enjoy! Maybe the fresh air, the sound of rain and the pretty gloomy clouds. I like rain.
Sunday was a busy day! We got to go to Jakes brother Nathan and his wife Joannas baby blessing for their new son Calvin. It was nice going to their ward, but I am really missing our Sunday School class! We have not seen them for 3 weeks and I really do miss them and think about them a lot. Nathan did a great job blessing Calvin and it went great! (in the picture from left to right, Kelsey, Jake, Cameron, Dad, Mom, Nathan, baby Calvin, Joanna, Claire.)
After the blessing, we went to Jakes parents house for a yummy vegetable clam chowder dinner, with yummy brownies! It was great! When we got home to our house, I went straight to work getting some party plans settled! I have a bridal shower coming up for my friend Heather Parker and a Halloween party coming up that I am soooo excited for! So, I made some party plan mock ups and grocery lists! Wahoo! I love an excuse to party! I really can't wait! This has been a great relaxing weekend! Now time to hit the books!

first snow of the year!

Friday, October 7, 2011

This has been a great week! It has been full of eyelash clients and sewing. I finally have gotten back into the sewing mood! I love when I can sew for hours without noticing it has been hours! I love sewing moods. I have watched way to many seasons of Americas Next Top Model while sewing though.. Here are a couple fun things I got to do this week!
I got to go to the lovely Bountiful Temple with my cute mother in law! Sorry we didn't call you Aunt Christie! We decided to go last minute, so we will have to go all together sometime soon and do a fun lunch date after!
These first two pictures I got off the internet...

This is what the temple grounds really looked like the day we went! Yes, first snow of the year! I got really excited about it, and then forgot about cleaning the car off with snow and wearing tons of layers. I am excited for the snow to start coming, but I would like to see some beautiful fall leaf colors first before the snow hits! After the temple, mom Harris and I went and ate some lunch and did some shopping for some dishes. It was a fun day to spend together!
I was trying to find something on my blog and it led to this Search Keywords page. Holy cow, I was laughing so hard at the funny things that brought up my blog. I am now going to regularly look at Search Keywords because it is so fun and cute to look at. My favorite is "turtle sitting on a rock legs out." All I could think when reading that is of a little boy sitting at the computer wanting to find cool pictures of turtles. SO cute! "Baby hammer head" was another favorite.
I went to Gardner Village this week and it was all decked out for "Witchfest." It was so cute! They had cute/not scary witches and pumpkins all over!
 Witches playing base ball..
This witch was my favorite! I liked the overall affect of her running into this building.
A witch jumping into the water.
 Cute pumpkins everywhere!
Tuney sitting on a witches lap.
A witch lighting dynamite into the water.
I love mail! Here are some fun items we have gotten in the mail this week! I am soooo excited about this new Rick Riordan book! He is the greatest writer! I LOVE his books! I wish he had more series and more books to read so I could read them!!! I can't wait to get started on his new book, The Son of Neptune!

new iPad covers!

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

This has been a fun week thus far making some iPad covers! My moms friend Julie came into town, and she had gotten an iPad cover from me last june.  She had a friend who happens to be a General Authorities wife who wanted one! She wanted one with a zipper pocket on it, and I was out of those so I started to whip some up! I ended up having so much fun making one, I just kept going after I made hers and had to make more! I have a bad habit of not being able to make just one of something! Its ok though because zipper iPad cases are great! There is tons of room in them to put in your head phones, iPad charger, pencils, snacks, car keys, whatever you want! I am bummed because these pictures don't show how cute the inside pockets are, but that is ok. Here is a sneak peek at what I have been making this week!

October General Conference Weekend

Sunday, October 2, 2011

Saturday I woke up to Jake making me my favorite breakfast! He is the best! He made chocolate chip pancakes! They were delicious! Then we got tons of blankets and the treats out to get ready to watch General Conference! Ok, let me say, I LOVED IT! I thought so many great topics were addressed. I am so excited about the new temples announced to being built! I am super excited about the new temple for Provo. It really is a crowed temple and it will be awesome to have another temple in the area so lots of temple work can be accomplished! I loved President Uckdorfs talk. He always speaks in a way I understand and get his messages. I loved how he talked about how Christ knows us and is always there for us and loves us. I loved how there were many notes mentioned on using media and electronics for good things and promoting our testimonies of the gospel. I think that is fantastic! I loved the talk by Elder Anderson on how children are a topic for husband, wife and the Lord. I also loved the talk (can't remember who gave it) but it was on time management. That is something I really feel I could improve on in choosing how to use my time. I feel I should start making somethings like visit teaching, scripture reading and a few other things bigger priorities in my schedule than maybe reading and sewing all the time. I really think both Saturday meetings were fantastic! Oh, and the children's choir! SO CUTE! That was a big highlight for me to see those cute kids singing their hearts out!
After Saturday Conference, Jake went to Salt Lake to meet up with his dad, and brothers Nathan and Cameron to try and get into Priesthood Session at the Conference Building. They waited in a long stand-by line, but they got in! After, they all went and ate at the Lion House, where Nathan used to work as a chef! Jake said he got the ribs and they were tastey!
While Jake was gone at Priesthood Session, I had some fun! I went to the mall and met up with Megan Miller for some drinks. I got a strawberry banana smoothie that was pretty good. We had fun chatting.
When I came out to my car, I saw this gum on my tire and was cracking me up. It was in perfect sticking condition!
When I got home, Staceypants picked me up and we went to our friend Ashley Kearls bridal shower! She looked so cute! I am so happy for her and excited for her to join the married club! They had an awesome soup and roll dinner with some yummy treats! Everyone went around the room telling funny stories about Ashley and they were so great! Kimmi Rae told the funniest one about her and Ashley rollerblading and how Ashley couldn't stop going down hill and got some serious road rash. She told so many funny details about it all that Stacey and I were crying we were laughing so hard! It was great to see some old friends and catch up!

Then I went to the Petco to get some food and a new heat light bulb for the turtles. Their basking light went out today, so that was an important thing to go get! Everyone needs their sunlight! Sunshine=happiness! Then I found myself at Target wandering around. I feel I could walk in circles and look at everything in that store and be entertained....and want to buy to many things as well.

Sunday was a great day! I loved it just being Jake and I watching conference together. This is the first year I haven't had company over, guests, in charge of making food or anything for conference. Not that any of that is bad or not fun, but I just really enjoyed watching conference with just Jake. After the first session I took a nap till the next session and Jake woke me up with lunch. He has been such a homemaker this weekend and taking care of me and feeding me tons! He is so cute. I loved General Conference. It all was fantastic. I am so excited to listen to it and read the talks over this next few months.
We got to go to Jakes parents house for dinner. That was great. We had a yummy sphetti and salad dinner with chocolate cake dessert. It was a wonderful meal.
When it was time to go, we said our goodbyes, and bye to Grandma Harris who is leaving later this week! It was great to see her and get to spend some time with her on her visit to Utah.
On our way home this cute leaf bug jumped on the window! I thought he was going to die when we got on the free way.
I was amazed to see this cute bug stay the whole 35 minute drive home on our window! I thought it was so cool! He was so airo dynamic on the freeway, even going 70 miles an hour! This is one cool bug! I am glad I got to meet him. It was a great way to end the Sunday evening.
