CHOMP by Carl Hiaasen

Chomp was an overall great book! It did take me some time to get into the book. I felt I wasn't really loving the book till around page 100. One of the main characters Tuna isn't introduced till then either. It took awhile for me to dive into the story at hand. I guess the start of the book is important though to give you perspective on Wahoo's family, their situation, and how they came about to meet Derek Badger.

The book takes place in Florida.  Wahoo's Dad Mickey is an animal wrangler, and he himself has a backyard full of animals. My favorite one is Alice the alligator. His dad takes care and raises the animals, which are hired out to go on film sets or movie scenes, along with Mickey who is very protective of his animals.

Wahoo's parents are currently in dept and are way behind on house payements since Wahoo's dad Mickeys accident with an iguana, he has been out of work. Wahoo, loving his life, and not wanting to loose the animals or being able to afford food for them, helps his dad in an adventure of a life time.

They take a job for a TV reality show called Expedition Survival. The star of the show Derek Badger is one tuff cookie to work with  and one scary risk taker. Derek films a show with Mickey, and then hires him to continue the journey in the real everglades where Derek wants to use only wild animals to film his show. Hesitante, but needing the money, Mickey takes the job. Wahoo joins along, with his new friend Tuna.

Out in the everglades, some incidents happen with animals, that make Derek go crazy and missing....Everyone is searching for him, and a lot of things happen! The end of the book is crazy with tons of stories going on, and it is awesome! I LOVED the end of the book! It was also a little scary to!

This author has several other books, so I am thinking Ill have to give some other ones a try! This book was an easy read, fun and enjoyable! I would read it again. The character development was really great in the book. I really liked all the characters in the book and felt they were interesting and real like. I also loved the animals in the book. Wahoo's life, with a dad as an animal wrangler sounded pretty neat to me!
